Back from the market. Just an example of a good organic harvest :-) Weekly veggies for a family of 5. There is a lot, it will last 10 days.
2 thym - 1 parsley - 1kg tomatoes - 2kg potatoes - 1 bunch of carrots - 2 salads - 6 zucchini’s - 6 oignons - 2 garlic - 2 leeks - 500g green beans - 1/2 litra mushrooms - 6 beetroot’s - 1 big bunch of kale
All this to cook salty veggies pies, pasta with beans, soups with the carrots leaves or leaks, rice with mushrooms, garlic, parsley and zucchini’s, beetroot’s leaves mixed with wok veggies...
I forgot the cabbage and the chard.
On top of having fresh tasty veggies, I felt happy to support local farmers, super short distribution circuits, I could buy and breathe fresh air, have a nice chat and nothing was wrapped in plastic on the table. <3
It was 60€, only (*).
6€ / day for 10 days.
1,2€ / people per day.
The farm selling these amazing veggies is Rekolan. They are present on Friday’s and Saturday’s mornings at Tammela market from mid-July to end of September usually.
(*) I know it’s not nothing. But the logic here is the more the demand for local and organic stuff, the more the prices will decrease. :-) Also, the hidden costs are huge in supermarket food, not even mentioning the negative impact. Since I’m starting with this site, I just want to avoid misunderstandings and make clear that 60€ is a budget. I have learned recently that online misunderstandings are quick to start so I don’t want to shock anyone with my "only". That being said, let’s cook.
