Hiedanrannan Syötävässä puistossa järjestetään toukokuusta lokakuulle avoimia ja maksuttomia puutarhatapahtumia, joissa viljellään yhteisöllisesti puiston kasvimaata. Tilaisuuksissa kylvetään ja istutetaan hyötykasveja, hoidetaan kasvimaata ja syksyllä korjataan satoa. Jotta viljelykasvit ehtivät kasvaa sadonkorjuukypsäksi, satoa jaetaan VAIN sadonkorjuutilaisuuksissa, siellä kulloinkin mukana oleville.
Aloitamme viljelykauden maanantaina 3.5. klo 17. Ensimmäisellä kerralla teemme (…)

Introduction to beekeeping
22 June 2020, by Eva WissenzBeekeeping is both fascinating and challenging: working with bees and producing honey require diverse knowledge and skills. Welcome to learn, how beekeeping can be started, how one can succeed in it and in which ways it is possible to fail.
Teachers Pieta and Immo Hyvärinen are small-scale beekeepers, and Pieta has also studied beekeeping in their PhD research. The event is happening in Finnish & English.

Urban gardening at Hiedanranta Edible Park
1 May 2021, by Eva WissenzHiedanranta Edible Park hosts open and free garden events from May to October, where the park’s vegetable garden is cultivated. At the events, useful plants are sown and planted, vegetable land is managed and the crop is harvested in the autumn. In order for the crops to grow to harvest maturity, the crop is ONLY distributed at the harvest events, to those present at the time.
We start the growing season on Monday 3.5. at 5 p.m. We cultivate the arable lands and fertilize them according to (…) -

4 June 2021, by Eva WissenzTampereen ensimmäinen Urban Dinner järjestetään Nekalassa 9.6. - ilmoittaudu nyt!
Miten hävikkiraaka-aineista saa kokattua hyvää ruokaa? 😋

Shared gardens in Tampere
18 November 2021, by Eva WissenzThanks a lot to Tatjana Blum for bringing all this info together!!
Urban communal gardening is a great way to grow food locally 🌱 while living in a city! You can explore and learn about e.g. what varieties of veggies 🍅🥒🌶 there are, how to cultivate them and the soil they grow in and what’s best: you don’t need to do it alone! Together with a group of people, you share the gardening work as well as the harvest at the end of the season. 🙌
There are different models of community gardening (…) -
Kurki: why eco-villages are so important
14 September 2019, by Eva WissenzWe are lucky in Tampere, we have a beautiful eco-village only 45min drive accessible to learn tons of things. And for those who want to travel without polluting, the bus 55 is taking you there. I’ve been there with family and friends a couple of times.
The place is called Kurki and it’s located in Vesilahti, by the lake Pyhäjärvi. It’ s a community ecovillage and a biodynamic farm (which mean organic basically but I’ll explain the differences later if I have time...).
In 2011, after (…) -
Visiting Kurki ecovillage
9 September 2019, by Eva WissenzToday, with Janna from Changemakers, we went to visit the Kurki eco-village. It’s close to Vesilahti, 45min drive from Tampere (we got slighlty lost) or direct bus n°55.
During all Summer, each Saturday between 11am and 14pm they have a Summer Café where you can sip a nice coffee with organic home made pulla’s. Satu is welcoming every one to answer questions and we had... a lot. It was actually even too much so we’ll go back very soon!!
The eco-village started about 6 years ago. It’s (…) -
Wasteland or human biodiversity
18 August 2020, by Eva WissenzIf you’re an emigrant here in Tampere coming from South Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, South America, Canada, USA, well any place except Switzerland and Scandinavia (with all respect), I’m sure you are sensitive to the uniformity of the urban space. Compared to other small - medium - biiig cities, Tampere is neat, very, and clean, very.
So, what a tremendous joy to discover something DIFFERENT, finally.
And here you are with Pyynikin aikamatkat, a wasteland near by the mini-golf. It (…) -
Ekothon: we’re part of the solution
18 August 2020, by Eva WissenzThe Pirkanmaa region is organizing an Ekothon in October and if you’re interested you’d better register by Sept. 18th (limited spots).
What’s an Ekothon? It’s an "online collaborative hackthon-type event to steer Pirkanmaa towards ecological and social transition. The event is open to everyone, from the small business owner to the politician, from the artist to the scientist, from the farmer to the town planner."
Our Pirkanmaa region has many sustainable solutions and ideas to make the (…) -
Permaculture day in Vesilahti
18 August 2020, by Eva WissenzPermaculture is "a holistic approach to systems design, grounded in three ethic principles (care for the land, care for people, and fair share), based on mimicking natural systems.*" In this approach, energy resources and human intervention are limited as much as possible.
The word "perma(nent)culture" was created in 1978 by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, based on the experiment of Mr Fukuoka with natural farming.
Every natural approach is interesting and there is sooooo much to learn (…)
